Description

Once again, for the PCA [link]

Neon hails from a distant land across the seas, even carries a soft, yet almost cockney accent to prove it (she comes from the Pokémon equivalent of Wales). She is a foreign exchange student who came over in the middle of her freshman year, currently sharing a host home with the Garchomp twins Crush and Persia. Many people in the academy generally look upon her with intrigue and wonder, since dragons, especially those of the Dragonite species, tend to be rare and very very secretive. Neon herself is no different, giving a quiet, shy demeanor as well as a degree of calm gentleness and patience that make some wonder if she’s the very personification of an angel.
Much of her life back at home has not been revealed, nor is she quick to reveal it anyways, due to thinking that there’s nothing remarkable about it anyway (then again, being a dragon, most things are pretty unremarkable to her). She also tends to be rather naive, even to the point of gullibility, as she grew up in isolation and never really interacted much with those outside of her own species.
As one can guess, this caused a bit of uneasiness when she first arrived at the Academy. Being that she was a dragon, most students left her alone but at the same time did not hide the act of staring in curiosity (and occasionally in stereotypically-charged fear). Some looked at her with contempt, believing that since she was a dragon, she must a stuck-up, holier-than-thou, superiority-complexed snob. Nothing could have been further from the truth, but most didn’t bother to get to know her to find out, further casting her out of their social circles. Others, seeing how easily she trusted others, took advantage of her by tricking her into fighting rivals and other similar faire. Her own forgiving nature prevented her from holding grudges amidst this, but help finally came when a Ninetales and her Jolteon friend sat down beside her at lunch one day for a casual chat. At first, the young Dragonair was concerned that it may be another group trying to sweet-talk her into doing something for them, but the friendly way these two talked with her while eating, almost as if they had been friends for months prior, impressed Neon with a degree of honor unheard of in dragons (as they were rarely accepted like that by non-dragons, again from stereotyping). You guessed it... the two happened to be Blaze and Storm. There were a few other students who gave her the benefit of the doubt before meeting her in person, but still others were so set in their assumptions that such blind suspicions were only radically shaken when she was challenged by a rather brash Weavile who, being an Ice-type, thought he could take her on in a battle.
Since this was the first officially-sanctioned battle she ever took part in at the Academy, most of the school was anxious to see the mysterious Dragonair in action.
The battle itself was intense, as Neon managed to dodge, weave, and push through everything the Weavile threw at her, even nearly matching his blazing speed. However, due to the Ice attacks he was using, he seemed to be making headway against her... until she did something unexpected.
All of a sudden, Neon’s behavior radically changed. A normally calm, quiet student turned into a ferociously brutal titan as she unleashed one of the most feared Dragon attacks in her repertoire: Outrage.
The fury of the dragon never let up as her shocked opponent found himself being nearly ripped apart by the onslaught. He was left beyond defeated, but as he had not fainted and stubbornly refused to accept defeat, Neon never let up. His team had to throw in the towel for him for fear that she might inadvertently kill him in the process.
The Dragonair was left dazed and confused from her own attack, but she had won and the entire audience was completely stunned in silence. As she glanced around the stands, a few small claps slowly led into thunderous applause and cheers. She couldn’t believe it... were the rest of the students actually accepting her? At last?
As it turned out, the battle only made worse her case, as many now looked upon her with fear, jealousy, and even a brand of contempt that had some furious at her for “showing off” like that. Poor Neon didn’t understand what she did to isolate herself from her peers, but Blaze and Storm were right there by her side to defend her case, trying to convince others that she was only a shy, gentle warrior who was more at peace than rage.
It took until their late Sophomore year to convince most others to treat her as normal, but memories of her Outrage still lingered. Interestingly enough, it was a battle with Stiletto the Sandslash later on that would get them to lighten up. Seeing Stiletto being fed some humble pie by a defeat at the hands of the Dragonair put them at ease, and despite enraging the defeated Sandslash, Neon would soon offer her a chance to fill out Storm’s team, and thus, Team Indigo was born.
Neon could easily be considered very wise, as she speaks with soft, poetic words that seem to flow ever-so-gently through the air with her distinctive foreign accent (British/Welsh in tone). She could calm the most frazzled nerves with but a echo, and she even moves with the serene grace that would one expect from an elegant, beautiful Dragonair. Her nature is of peace and a desire to help others; a common trait associated with her species. As such, she was taught from birth never to take advantage of her powers as a Dragon, but to use them in a way that would help those who would need it. Unfortunately, this has also given her a habit of being rather nosy, poking into other people’s affairs with the intention of solving their problems – whether or not they want her help. Blaze is usually there to pull her back, but it doesn’t stop the Dragonair’s natural curiosity. She’s the kind of person you could pour out your heart to and she would never laugh nor judge you; she would merely desire to offer a kind word and even a solution.
As a fighter, she seems almost like Team Indigo’s wild card, having a certain expertise in water and ice-type moves, yet packing a number of surprises in her moveset to throw her opponents completely off-guard. Being a dragon, her senses and reflexes are supreme and she can withstand a multitude of attacks, possessing in-turn the strength to fight back with a ferocity not unlike that seen in her first sanctioned battle. She also happens to be an impressive performer in the Academy’s Surfing Team.
